"NO PAIN, NO GAIN"

Upon arrival at Naval Special Warfare Command, check-ins for BUD/S are immediately placed into a pre-indoctrination phase of training known as 'PTRR', or Physical Training Rehabilitation and Remediation. PTRR is also where all of the 'roll-backs' are placed while waiting to be put into a class. Once additional medical screening is given, and after enough BUD/S candidates arrive for the same class, organized physical training begins.
BUD/S consists of a three-week 'Indoctrination Course', known as INDOC, followed by three phases, covering physical conditioning (seven weeks), diving (eight weeks), and land warfare (ten weeks) respectively. Officer and enlisted personnel go through the same training program. It is designed to develop and test their stamina, leadership, and ability to work as a team. In the first phase, BUD/S students are divided into 'Boat Crews' which can consist of six to eight men. Although some exercises will be undertaken as boat crews (such as 'log PT', which requires boats crews to exercise with logs that weigh 150 lb (68 kg) each, and 'Surf Passage', where boat crews must navigate the Pacific surf in inflatable boats), the first phase of BUD/S also consists of a series of demanding individual physical tests including frequent sets of push-ups and sit-ups, ocean swims and timed 4 mi (6.4 km) runs in boots and long trousers, in soft sand (to be completed in 32 minutes). The first phase is most well known for "Hell Week", 132 hours of continuous physical activity, which now occurs during week three. A student may drop on request (DOR) from the course at any time. The tradition of DOR consists of dropping one's helmet liner next to a pole with a brass ship’s bell attached to it and ringing the bell three times (the bell was taken away for a few years in the 1990s, then later brought back).[12] Classes typically lose around 70–80% of their trainees, either due to DORs or injuries sustained during training, but it is not always easy to predict which of the trainees will DOR during BUD/S. Winter class drop out rates are usually higher due to the cold. SEAL instructors say that in every class, approximately 10 percent of the students simply do not have the physical ability to complete the training. Another 10–15 percent will definitely make it through unless they sustain a serious physical injury. The other 75–80 percent is 'up for grabs' depending on their motivation. There has been at least one BUD/S class where no one has completed the program. Most trainees are eliminated prior to completion of Hell Week, but trainees will continue to DOR in the second phase or be forced to leave because of injuries, or failing either the diving tests or the timed runs and swims. In fact, the instructors tell the students at the very start of BUD/S that the vast majority of them will not successfully complete the course and that they are free at any time to drop out (via the bell) if they do not believe they can complete the course.
A trainee who DORs from First Phase before the completion of Hell Week and reapplies to the BUD/S program must start from the beginning of INDOC (if they are accepted). Any BUD/S trainee who drops on request after Hell Week goes through the same out-processing as a trainee who quits before or during Hell Week. If they reapply to BUD/S they would stand a very good chance of being accepted, but they must complete Hell Week again. However, those who have completed Hell Week, but cannot continue training due to injury are usually rolled back into the next BUD/S class after Hell Week, or the respective phase in which they were rolled. There are many SEALs who have attempted BUD/S two and even three or more times before successfully completing training.

The Greatest Success in My Life

My Valedictory Address:

It is of great privilege and pride to be right here in front of you, my dear parents, teachers, schoolmates, guests, ladies and gentlemen, let me first say, Good Afternoon…

I’d like to ask my fellow graduates to indulge me for a moment and think of the lowest time during your years at Dalaguete Central  Elementary  School, maybe it was the assignment where you couldn’t understand the questions, let alone the answers or the final exam where you were only able to answer half problems..It’s not a pleasant thought is it? Now look around you and think of today. We made it and we did it together. Of course we’re not the only ones on the journey and it wouldn’t be right to continue without a few “thank you” to the people who are behind the success we have today.

Our heartfelt gratitude to our teachers, who have imparted their knowledge, molded and trained us with patience, and sacrifices. We will leave this school equipped with skills and moral values. Thank you our dear mentors, to our parents, their guidance and encouragement make us what we are today, of course to my Daddy who works hard for us, a distant worker from the US, striving a lot to sustain our needs and our studies. Though he is not around here, I would like to express how grateful I am for having such kind of gorgeous father who readily sacrifices much of solitude away from his family for the sake of our future. Thank you very much Dad, and never could I find a word of describing how fortunate I am, even the luckiest of having the most wonderful woman in my life, my superwoman Mom, who never stops teaching me, nurturing me, to  who and what I am now. I know, I could never get what I have now w/o her endless, timeless effort & support. Mom “thank you” very much, I’m so proud of you. This gains I have now, is for you , my parents, my brothers and my family…

Graduation marks the end of my elementary years and the starting point of another course; a beginning of another step, the secondary level. Fears arise to our minds. What we ended is another start for a bigger challenge in life. It implies responsibility and burden to us so we should think of a way to surmount life’s innumerable struggle to build a better tomorrow. Just as every step of the stairs leads up to the threshold or like curtains that open as we walk through them, step by step until the final one is reached, which open to a magnificent vista of unending horizon. Let’s go hand in hand, face/the new challenges with more braveness. Continue to accept the pains for gains are always there…But let us always remain humble, diligent in our studies, and aim to realize our dreams.

What we need is merely focus; focus on what we should do. Let’s always have to make a big difference on what is right from wrong, since it is always a process to learn many things in our lives everyday, what we think is good, let’s do it and make the best out of it. Let us not stop working, but continue to face the facts that life is always a struggle. All of these could not be achieved without the “LORD ALMIGHTY FATHER’S “  guidance and blessings. Pray without ceasing, Thank you Lord for everything….

Ladies & gentlemen the prizes of life are at the end of each journey, not near the beginning. And it’s not given to me to know how many steps are necessary in order to reach my goal. My friends, from the bottom of my heart Thank You  & GOD BLESS…

                                                                                                                   Hearty Danmarc M. Canillo

Our Goal, Our Inspiration

What Pushes Me to Keep Reaching Success?

Everyone has his own goal. This goal serves as an inspiration to our life for it is the reason why we keep suffering just to achieve the accomplishments in life. We, as students and workers, wake up early in the morning or even sleep late at night for our goal keeps pushing us to obtain success. We, as leaders, must persevere rejections and discrimination for it is only a test if we are worthy to be a great leader. We, as human beings, must follow the words of God for it is the only way to overcome temptations. Our goal is one of the greatest inspirations in our life.

Life of a High School Student

At first, I never thought that being a first year student was very challenging. In fact, I was having a hard time doing my projects, assignments and tasks to do because when I was still in my previous elementary years, we are not trained to do such things. Honestly, I don't complain why I have this hard tasks to do. To tell the truth, I feel that this tasks would make me better for it makes me prepared for the upcoming years. The reason why our teachers always gives us difficult tasks is that they want their students to become great leaders in the future. Challenging things would transform us into a great and better person.

The One Who Can See Us Always

God  is the only one who can see our actions. In everything that we do, God is always present. When we do horrible things that are not pleasing for him, He will do judgment on us. If we don't ask forgiveness from Him, or even apologize for what we have done, the punishment goes a lot more painful. The reason why God forgives humans is that they confess their sin honestly while the evil ones are corrupted by their pride. We should ask forgiveness to God for His patience is everlasting. Asking forgiveness is the great key for us to enter the kingdom of God.

A True Model, A Great Leader

Family is the most significant thing in life. It is more important than job, money, amusement, or anything else for love is the essential source why we get these possessions. Without a family, we can’t obtain job, money, and amusement. Without job and money, life seems to be boring. Without experiencing entertainment, we can’t live life to the fullest. Without love, the greatest things that will happen to us will be easily washed away for God gave us family that will strengthen and nurture our spirit. Family is the greatest instrument why we have love as our inspiration.
Choosing the best thing requires us to make decisions with great assurance. Assurance makes us more comfortable to deal with things for it helps us to be confident in making difficult decisions. In selecting a family, one should have knowledge about it. We should be sure that the family we have chosen is rightfully fit to be nominated as a model. The Almagro family is suited to be an example of a model family. Nominating a model family is a great challenge for it needs assurance, confidence, and knowledge. In choosing the best thing, assurance, confidence, and knowledge should always be present.
One great example of a model family is the Almagro family who espouses Dalaguetnon values. They enhance the hidden skills and talents of the youth so that someday, these youth would serve as instruments of success.  They would teach them how to apply their talents properly. The youth would use their talents by singing in the church, performing other church activities and anything else that would satisfy God. These little ways of service are the signs of success. A true model does not only serve to enhance their capabilities, they serve for they want others and God to be satisfied. A model who espouses good values will bring great changes in our society.
The father of this influential family is Mateo Almagro, a kind and giving father. He nurtured his children to become good citizens in the future. He is an outstanding father, who provides his children love, satisfaction, and hope. A father that would persevere anything just to assure that his children would grow to become better leaders and models in the future. His sufferings never failed for he asked guidance from the Almighty. Nurturing and strengthening someone would lead somebody to success. The path of success becomes wider when we experience sufferings in our life.
The God-fearing and forgiving mother was Rosita Almagro. She is a kind of mother who teaches her children to know and encounter God for she wants them to realize that He is the only friend we can approach. She is a mother who never stops praying, worshipping, and calling to God day and night. She is a mother who forgives easily even if sometimes, her children committed something wrong. She succeeded easily for her faithfulness impressed God. Encountering God in our lives is a miracle for it is the greatest blessing that God has given to us. Believing and trusting in the inexhaustible power of God makes the way of success broader for us.
One of their daughters is Gisell Almagro who is a teacher and at the same times an inspiring leader. She serves as a faithful leader who advices the youth to apply and share their talents devotedly to others because Gisell wants them to preserve and continue enhancing their talents. She is a teacher who inspires her students to have a good attitude even at young ages. She is a leader who continues doing her job to encourage the youth to unlock and develop their abilities. She is a person who completes her tasks faithfully and honorably. Gisell is a human being who follows God’s words and sharing it afterwards that lead her to an everlasting accomplishment. A great leader is a true follower of God.
The faithful and the compassionate sister is Consolacion Almagro. She functions as a model to his siblings for she wants them to be sincere and charitable like her. She is a sister who fulfills her duty in teaching others the words of God. She is a daughter who follows the good values of her parents. She is a model who inspires others to become different. Sister Consolacion Almagro, a follower of God, is an example of a completely accomplished instrument of God. A devotee of God is always compassionate and faithful.
Rosa Alma Almagro, who is hardworking and patient, is the fifth daughter. She finishes her task perfectly, quickly, and on time for it is a way of being creative and responsible. She is a teacher who never quits lecturing until her students understand her explanation. She was a student who studies very well to be successful. She is a leader who also distributes her abilities to others. She is a person who applies patience and hard-work to be successful and victorious. The passage of triumph will be more spacious when we are patient, responsible, and perseverant.

Having admirable attitudes and beliefs would make a superb transformation in our country. Gaining these characters would lead people to pursue and follow for they did not experience how great the pleasure is when others respect and look high upon them. Teachers and leaders are the models of having good values that would make the youth follow them. Even if the youth are lured by temptations, there is still an inspiration for them that would make them change. Inspiration would make them continue reaching their goals until they reach their limitations. A model is defined as a true friend for he is willing to sacrifice himself to make someone become different. Sacrificing one's own life is a great accomplishment that would never be forgotten.

True models didn’t exist only from the past, they exist until these days. They are our parents, teachers, and leaders for they are the ones who are willing to give their life not just to their children and students, but for their country also. Even if they are suffering, they would continue getting up until they can reach success. They would continue improving the county even if they are discriminated and rejected by others. They will rise and show to them that our country would be great someday. These persons truly believe that God is always on our side guiding us. God sends models not just only to inspire, but to sacrifice their lives also.
